Last Updated: June 3, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Vancouver Remodeling Group website and services. By accessing our website or engaging our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our website or services.

1. Services Overview

Vancouver Remodeling Group provides general contracting and renovation services including:

  • Kitchen and bathroom renovations
  • Interior and exterior painting
  • Flooring installation
  • Drywall repair and installation
  • Basement finishing
  • Insurance restoration work
  • Home additions and general repairs
  • Custom outdoor projects (paving, retaining walls, fencing)

Note: We do not provide licensed plumbing or electrical services. We work with licensed trade partners for these specialized services when required.

2. Quotes and Estimates

All quotes and estimates provided are:

  • Free of charge with no obligation to proceed
  • Valid for 30 days from the date of issue unless otherwise specified
  • Subject to site inspection: Final pricing may change based on unforeseen conditions discovered during the project
  • Not binding: Quotes become binding contracts only when signed by both parties

3. Project Agreements

Written Contracts

All renovation projects require a written contract specifying:

  • Scope of work and project specifications
  • Materials to be used
  • Total project cost and payment schedule
  • Estimated timeline and completion date
  • Warranty terms
  • Change order procedures

Changes to Scope

Any changes to the original scope of work must be approved in writing via a change order. Additional work will be billed accordingly and may affect the project timeline.

4. Payment Terms

Standard payment schedule for renovation projects:

  • Deposit: Typically 30-50% upon contract signing to secure materials and scheduling
  • Progress Payments: Additional payments at specified project milestones
  • Final Payment: Due upon project completion and client approval

Payment methods accepted: cash, cheque, e-transfer, credit card (processing fees may apply).

Late Payments: Overdue invoices may incur interest charges of 2% per month (24% annually) or the maximum allowed by law.

5. Project Timelines

We provide estimated completion dates based on:

  • Project scope and complexity
  • Material availability
  • Weather conditions (for outdoor projects)
  • Permit approval timelines
  • Unforeseen site conditions

While we strive to meet estimated timelines, they are approximate and not guaranteed. Delays due to factors beyond our reasonable control (weather, material shortages, permit delays, client-requested changes) do not constitute breach of contract.

6. Permits and Regulations

When work requires building permits or inspections:

  • We will inform you of permit requirements based on the scope of work
  • You decide whether to obtain permits yourself or have us handle the permit application process
  • If you choose to have us obtain permits on your behalf, permit fees and our permit application service fees will be added to the project cost
  • All work will be performed to meet BC Building Code standards regardless of permit status

Client Responsibility: You are responsible for:

  • Making the final decision on permit application (self-obtained or through us)
  • Ensuring you have legal authority to perform renovations on the property
  • Verifying that no strata, HOA, landlord restrictions, or other bylaws prohibit the planned work
  • Understanding the risks of proceeding without permits when required by law

Note: We advise obtaining required permits to ensure code compliance, protect your investment, and avoid issues with insurance claims or future property sales.

7. Site Access and Preparation

The client agrees to provide:

  • Clear access to work areas for equipment
  • Adequate parking for work vehicles
  • Access to electricity and water as needed
  • Secure storage for materials (when applicable)
  • Removal of personal belongings from work areas

We will protect non-work areas with drop cloths and plastic sheeting, but cannot guarantee zero dust or debris migration in occupied homes.

8. Warranties

Workmanship Warranty

We warrant our workmanship for a period of 1 year from project completion. This covers defects in installation and construction caused by our work.

Materials Warranty

Materials are covered by the manufacturer's warranty. We will assist with warranty claims but are not responsible for manufacturer defects.

Warranty Exclusions

Warranties do not cover:

  • Normal wear and tear
  • Damage caused by misuse, negligence, or accidents
  • Modifications made by others after project completion
  • Issues arising from pre-existing conditions not disclosed or discoverable during initial inspection
  • Damage from events beyond our control (flooding, earthquakes, etc.)

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the total amount paid for the specific project
  • We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or incidental damages (e.g., lost rent, business interruption, temporary housing)
  • Claims must be reported in writing within 30 days of discovery
  • Any legal action must be commenced within 1 year of project completion

Insurance Coverage: We carry liability insurance and WorkSafeBC coverage. Proof of insurance available upon request.

10. Client Responsibilities

The client agrees to:

  • Provide accurate information about the property and project requirements
  • Disclose known defects, hazardous materials (asbestos, lead paint), or structural issues
  • Make timely decisions on materials, finishes, and design choices to avoid project delays
  • Maintain insurance on the property during construction
  • Arrange for care of pets and children during work hours
  • Communicate concerns promptly to project manager

11. Cancellation and Termination

Client Cancellation

You may cancel a signed contract with written notice. Cancellation terms:

  • Before work begins: Deposit refunded minus materials already ordered and administrative costs
  • After work begins: Payment due for all work completed, materials purchased, and reasonable profit on work performed

Our Right to Terminate

We reserve the right to terminate a contract if:

  • Payment is not received according to agreed schedule
  • Client repeatedly interferes with work or disregards safety protocols
  • Site conditions make it unsafe or impossible to proceed
  • Client has materially breached the contract

12. Dispute Resolution

In the event of a dispute:

  • Step 1: Contact our project manager to discuss the issue
  • Step 2: If unresolved, escalate to company owner in writing
  • Step 3: Consider mediation before pursuing legal action
